Natural Mattress Toppers
Comfortably Healthy Sleep
Do you want to take your sleep to the next level – literally? With a topper, you add an extra layer of comfort to your mattress. This distributes pressure more evenly and makes the surface feel more pleasant and even softer. Especially with slightly firmer mattresses, a topper can achieve the desired effect, as shoulders and hips can sink in a little deeper. Many people are surprised at how much the lying sensation changes, even though a topper only adds a relatively thin layer.
Our Products

The INSIDE Principle
With the new INSIDE principle, the toppers are simply integrated into your dormiente mattress. This gives you the comfort of a topper with the seamless appearance of a single mattress. Some mattress series can be retrofitted with an INSIDE topper if desired. The INSIDE topper is then delivered without an outer cover, with an additional assembly zipper. Your specialist retailer will be happy to advise you in detail.

The OUTSIDE Principle
The principle of the OUTSIDE topper is simple: it is simply manufactured to look like a mattress topper with its own outer cover and placed on your mattress to increase comfort. That’s it! Optionally, this topper can be equipped with fixing straps to prevent slipping. The advantage of this version is that the topper can be quickly removed and used as a guest bed, as it is built like an independent mattress with a cover.
FAQ Topper
What does a topper really do? Who is it worth it for? Which material suits you? And how thick should a topper actually be? In this FAQ section, you will find everything you want to know about a topper that truly tops everything 😉.
What is a topper?
A topper is an additional layer that goes on top of the mattress and fine-tunes the lying experience. For example, it can help if the mattress feels a bit too hard or too soft, if the famous “guest gap” in a double bed bothers you, or if you want to better regulate your sleeping climate.
Additionally, a topper protects the mattress from sweat and wear. It is important to note: a topper does not replace a mattress. It is the sleep comfort add-on on top.
How thick should a topper be?
For a dormiente mattress topper we generally recommend a thickness of 5 to 7 cm. This is enough to noticeably increase comfort without the mattress losing its ergonomic strengths.
A topper should complement the lying experience, not completely change it. Too thin models often have no significant effect, while very thick layers can interfere with the interaction with the mattress and lead to a worse lying experience.
Our toppers are designed to work perfectly with dormiente mattresses – for more comfort, better pressure distribution, and a pleasant sleeping climate.
Natural topper, gel foam, or cold foam – which is best?
Not all toppers are the same. They are available, for example, from natural materials, gel foam, or cold foam.
✅ Natural topper
A natural topper is made from materials that grow in nature. It allows air to pass through, absorbs moisture, and releases it again without creating a sauna under the duvet. Because it contains no synthetic additives, it is especially skin-friendly – ideal for everyone who is sensitive or simply doesn’t want synthetics in the bedroom. Comfort is not compromised: the topper adapts to the body and complements the qualities of the mattress.
❌ Gel foam topper
Gel foam toppers feel pleasantly soft and seem to adapt to the body, but they consist entirely of chemicals and do not provide real, ergonomic support for the body. Production is energy-intensive, and once a gel foam topper has reached the end of its life, it is not biodegradable. For people with higher demands on sustainability and ergonomics or sensitive skin, a topper made from this material is not suitable.
❌ Cold foam topper
Cold foam is supposed to hold its shape and support the body healthily – that’s the theory. In practice, one sweats quickly because the material is barely breathable. And again: synthetic, not sustainable, not skin-friendly. Anyone who has ever slept on a sweaty cold foam topper knows that this has little to do with a pleasant and natural sleeping experience.
What materials are dormiente toppers made of?
At dormiente toppers, raw materials are used that do not come from a chemistry kit, but from nature: natural latex, sheep wool, organic cotton, coconut fiber, or horsehair. These materials are renewable instead of petroleum-based and do not introduce synthetic additives into your resting area. The plant fibers come from controlled organic farming, while animal materials such as sheep wool and horsehair come from humane animal husbandry.
Can a natural mattress topper make my mattress softer or firmer?
Yes, a natural topper can change the lying experience of your mattress. Depending on the chosen material, the surface can be made softer, firmer, and more supportive.
If you want to make your mattress softer:
A topper made of natural latex, sheep wool, or cotton provides more suppleness and body adaptation. These materials relieve pressure and create a pleasantly soft lying experience. This is ideal if you feel the mattress is too hard or are sensitive to pressure points.
If you want a firmer sleeping surface:
Toppers with coconut fiber, horsehair, or a firmer processed latex layer offer more resistance and increase the firmness of the sleeping surface. They are suitable for people who prefer a firmer lying experience.
Important to know:
The topper always works in combination with the mattress – it does not change the basic structure. Therefore, it is worth testing different variants at a specialist retailer to adjust the interaction to your needs.
How do I properly care for a natural mattress topper?
- Air regularly:
Ideally, air the topper briefly every day by folding back the duvet. This allows the absorbed moisture to escape.
- Fluff or shake out:
Depending on the filling, it is also worthwhile to lightly shake or fluff the topper from time to time. This restores the shape, prevents hard spots, and ensures the lying experience does not change.
- Clean the cover:
Many natural toppers have a removable cover that can be washed in the washing machine. Please follow the care instructions on the label.
Are natural toppers suitable for allergy sufferers?
Yes, natural mattress toppers are very suitable for allergy sufferers. The materials are hypoallergenic – meaning they are selected and processed so that they do not trigger allergic reactions. They contain no chemical residues, no harmful substances, and no materials that burden skin or respiratory organs. They provide no habitat or surface for mites or other triggers.
It is important to regularly air the topper and occasionally wash the cover.
How long does a natural mattress topper last?
Premium toppers made of natural materials such as natural latex can give you eight to ten years of pleasure with proper care. Toppers with fillings of sheep wool are also durable but may lose some volume over time – this is due to the material and not a defect in quality. Regular airing, fluffing, and careful handling ensure the topper remains in good condition for a long time.
How to find a mattress topper that perfectly suits your needs?
A topper can do a lot – but only if it suits you. That’s why trying it out is key. Our dormiente specialist retailers are experts in materials, lying comfort, and individual needs. On-site, you can test various topper products and find out what feels right for you.
There you can directly compare different materials and firmness levels and see which topper is the perfect match for your mattress, body type, sleeping position, and personal sleeping habits. With natural materials, one thing counts: only what really suits you adds extra comfort and restorative sleep.
