Our solid wood beds
Naturally untreated, certified wood helps you forget the hectic day and come to rest. Take advantage of all the benefits of our solid wood beds and choose your favourite from a wide variety.
Solid wood beds are the kind of furniture you do not replace after a few years. You buy them once and then they stay. This is mainly because they are carved from the right wood. With a solid wood bed you do not bring 08/15 into your bedroom, but a piece of nature with its own character. Untreated wood not only improves air exchange at night, but also the room climate and enchants with its natural wood scent. If a solid wood bed no longer fits at some point, it can easily be passed on or sold.

Form and function with high design standards!
dormiente beds made of natural wood:
For over 38 years, we at dormiente have been dedicated to healthy sleeping.
In addition to a good mattress and its base system or wooden slatted frame, a good solid wood bed also contributes to well-being. We offer a wide selection of different solid wood beds. Solid wood, in addition to its special appearance, contributes to a good indoor climate – a basic requirement for good sleep.
For our wooden beds we mainly use local woods such as oak, wild oak, core beech or beech. All solid woods, including imported woods from North America such as walnut and cherry, are purchased from certified timber dealers to ensure sustainable forest management.
In our manufacturing facility in Germany, this solid wood is processed into beautifully shaped, functional real wood beds.
The basis is a clear concept: first, the bed design of the solid wood beds is developed in such a way that function is the priority. Criteria here include, for example, comfort height or the usability of the wooden beds for various slatted frames, spring slatted frames, sleep systems and mattresses. After various design drafts, the structural elements are developed using prototypes to ensure solid and stable functionality. Then, in our high-tech equipped manufactory, the bed is built, with the final step being the hand-oiled surface, which you can immediately see and feel when you use our fine solid wood beds for a long time.

FAQ Solid Wood Beds
Solid wood beds are the Rocky Balboas of bedroom furniture. Robust, reliable, and simply unbeatable. But how does your new bed perform in everyday life? We answer the most important questions about “solid wood beds”.
The advantages of solid wood beds at a glance:
✅ Free from harmful substances and chemicals
Solid wood beds are... solid! Just the way furniture should be: without questionable glues, without unpleasant-smelling varnishes, and without chemical surface treatments. Unlike chipboard or MDF furniture, which in many cases is held together with artificial binders, a solid wood bed is made from pure wood. There is nothing that emits fumes or smells unpleasant. On the contrary: solid wood is even known to help purify the air in rooms.
✅ Durability and stability
A solid wood bed is not a piece of furniture for a few years – it is a companion for life. Well maintained, it easily lasts 30 years or more. Some even remain in bedrooms for generations (or are passed down as heirlooms – including lovingly carved artwork 😉). Furthermore, they can be assembled and disassembled repeatedly during moves.
✅ Unique aesthetics
No two solid wood beds are alike – each has its own unique grain, color nuances, and small features such as knots. How our woods have grown in nature gives each bed a unique character. P.S.: That’s exactly why your solid wood bed may differ slightly from the images – real wood doesn’t follow catalog specifications. 😉
✅ Healthy sleeping climate
Wood can absorb moisture from the surrounding air and release it slowly again. This creates a pleasant, balanced room climate and a beautiful natural atmosphere with that “wood feeling”.
✅ Sustainability
The wood from dormiente comes from sustainable forestry – meaning: controlled sources, no senseless deforestation, and a piece of furniture of a quality that delivers what it promises. And when it eventually reaches the end of its life, it is completely biodegradable.
✅ No electrical conductivity
Metal in the bed? Sounds harmless at first, but it can amplify or transmit electromagnetic radiation from the environment. This is especially the case in classic box spring beds with metal springs or beds with metal frames. Solid wood conducts nothing and ensures a relaxed, radiation-free sleep.
How do I properly care for my solid wood bed?
A solid wood bed is a true powerhouse – robust, durable, and naturally charming. To keep it that way, it needs a little attention. Don’t worry, it’s neither complicated nor time-consuming.
✅ Remove dust
Dust settles everywhere, including on wood. A dry or slightly damp cotton cloth is sufficient to keep the surface clean.
✅ Remove stains immediately
Whether spilled tea, water rings, or other stains – liquids should be soaked up immediately with a dry cloth. If a stain remains, a mild soap solution can help.
✅ Refresh surfaces
Oiled solid wood beds occasionally need a little refreshment. It is best to use a natural wood care oil (e.g., linseed oil, hard wax oil, or special furniture oil).
✅ No aggressive cleaning agents
Chemical cleaners, scouring powders, or harsh cleaning agents can damage the wood surface and make it dull. Even alcohol-based wipes or aggressive all-purpose cleaners are not a good idea. Gentle wood care products or a mixture of warm water and mild soap are better.
✅ Do not place directly near heating sources or windows
Wood is a natural material and can change due to extreme temperature and humidity fluctuations. Too much sun can bleach the wood, too dry heating air can make it brittle and prone to cracking. Therefore, do not place a solid wood bed directly next to a radiator or in a spot exposed to direct sunlight.
Is a solid wood bed more stable than a bed made of chipboard or MDF?
Yes! Solid wood furniture is known for its durability and high load-bearing capacity – unlike beds made of chipboard or MDF. A solid wood bed lasts not just years, but decades. And that is exactly what a bed should do. But due to today’s throwaway mentality and many cheap materials that sag, squeak, or break after a few years, we are used to constantly replacing furniture. With solid wood, that is not necessary.
Can I customize my solid wood bed?
Yes, you can customize your solid wood bed to a certain extent. For example, choose from different types of wood such as oak, beech, or pine. There are also options for the surface finish: oiled for a natural feel or brushed for a special texture. And if you want even more individuality: Our selection of Natural Boxspring Beds offers not only solid wood but also different covers that you can select according to your taste.
Is assembling a wooden bed difficult?
Don’t worry, assembly is straightforward. Most solid wood beds are designed to stand with just a few simple steps. A cordless screwdriver or an Allen key is usually sufficient. For larger beds, it’s best to have a second person – not because it’s complicated, but because massive oak parts are easier to handle together. 😉 If you prefer to skip the assembly: Many dormiente specialist retailers offer an assembly service and will set up wooden beds directly at home.
Which types of wood are used for dormiente solid wood beds?
Whether you prefer a modern bedroom or want to create a cozy country-style atmosphere – at dormiente, you have the choice. Our solid wood beds are available in many designs. Popular wood types include: oak, pine, beech / core beech, walnut, and Swiss pine.
