Natural duvets and natural mattress pads
Healthy sleep under pure natural materials
Too warm, too cold, blanket off, blanket on again… this cycle regularly causes sleepless nights. Natural duvets and mattress pads regulate temperature and moisture significantly better than synthetic materials. They provide warmth without overheating and balance fluctuations. This helps ensure that you wake up less often because it is too warm or too cold and allows you to sleep more calmly through the night.
FAQ Natural Duvets and Natural Mattress Pads
One of the most frequently asked questions about duvets is: “How do you stop your partner from stealing the duvet at night?” We only have one answer to that: each partner needs their own dormiente duvet 😉. And for all other important questions about duvets – voilà, here are our FAQs.
Duvet and mattress pad – what is the difference?
Even though both duvets and mattress pads contribute to a comfortable sleeping climate, they have completely different functions.
The duvet lies directly on top of you and keeps you warm. The mattress pad, on the other hand, is placed underneath you, between the mattress and the bed sheet. It provides additional cushioning, improves air circulation, and protects the mattress from moisture. Especially for people who tend to feel either too cold or too warm at night, a mattress pad can provide an additional improvement.
Why are natural duvets from dormiente so popular?
Here are the reasons why a natural duvet is the best choice (and why you will probably never want to go back to synthetic duvets again):
✅ Organic duvets made in Germany
Our duvets do not come from just anywhere – they are made in Germany with great care and attention to detail. That means: no compromises and no long transport routes – just top quality and excellent craftsmanship.
✅ 100% natural materials
Oil belongs in cars, not in your bed. While synthetic duvets are made from plastic fibres derived from fossil resources, natural duvets are made from renewable materials. Cotton, virgin wool, camel hair, and similar fibres contain no microplastics or chemical additives. When organic duvets reach the end of their life, they can be disposed of in a sustainable way.
✅ Breathability and moisture regulation
Natural duvets allow air to circulate so you don’t wake up either sweating or freezing. Natural fibres such as virgin wool or camel hair absorb moisture and gradually release it again – without feeling damp like polyester duvets. A natural duvet always stays pleasantly dry.
✅ Tested for harmful substances
Many conventional duvets contain chemical residues from production – something you don’t want on your skin or in the air you breathe. dormiente natural duvets are tested for harmful substances and free from concerning chemicals. That means: safe, healthy sleep without unwanted side effects.
✅ Allergy-friendly natural duvets
While synthetic materials trap moisture (creating a perfect environment for dust mites), natural fibres such as hemp, Tencel™, or wool remain dry and breathable – and that is exactly what dust mites dislike. Hemp in particular is a real gamechanger for allergy sufferers: naturally hypoallergenic, antibacterial, and even mould-resistant.
Organic duvets: high-quality filling materials inside
Our organic duvets use only natural filling materials. These materials are not only sustainable but also highly effective in regulating moisture and retaining warmth.
🌿 Organic hemp
Robust, durable, and climate-regulating – keeps you warm in winter and pleasantly cool in summer 😉. Hemp is also very sustainable and scores top marks among natural fibres.
🌿 Tencel™
Silky soft, excellent at breathability, and perfect for people who tend to sweat at night. Tencel™ quickly wicks away moisture and ensures a dry sleeping environment.
🐑 Merino lambswool
Fluffy, temperature-regulating, and self-cleaning – Merino can absorb a lot of moisture without feeling damp. Plus: it is extremely comfortable.
🐫 Camel down hair
For anyone who tends to fluctuate between “too warm” and “too cold” at night – camel hair adapts to your body climate and balances temperature for you.
Organic duvets: cover made of organic cotton
Because it’s not just the inside that matters: our organic duvets feature a cover made of 100% organic cotton. This not only feels wonderfully soft but is also sustainable and skin-friendly. With this cover, the natural filling is perfectly wrapped 😉.
How do you care for organic duvets properly?
With just a few simple tricks, your organic duvet will stay fresh, cosy, and long-lasting. Natural materials such as wool, hemp, or camel hair are self-cleaning and require very little maintenance. The most important thing is that the duvet can dry and is regularly aired.
✅ Air regularly
Ideally outdoors or at an open window. Natural fibres release excess moisture this way and stay fresh.
✅ Keep dry
Natural duvets love fresh air but not moisture. If they do get slightly damp (e.g. from sweating or spills), simply allow them to dry thoroughly.
✅ Remove stains
Small accidents? No problem! Usually, it is enough to gently dab the stain with a damp cloth and a little natural soap.
✅ Store properly
When not in use, store the duvet in a dry, airy place – ideally in a cotton bag or a breathable cover.
Are there also organic duvets for children?
Of course! If parents sleep under organic duvets, children should not miss out either. dormiente offers special organic duvets for children, made from the same high-quality natural materials as the adult versions – just smaller. They are especially gentle on children’s sensitive skin and ensure safe, healthy sleep.
